Alex Ingram

Hey! I'm Alex and I've been freelancing and assisting on various projects and shoots for the past 5 years. I have extensive experience both on location and within a studio environment, with my own work focusing primarily on portraiture and photojournalism. I have worked with a variety of clients, such as BBC, RNLI, Magnum, BJP, Dubarry, Sunday Times, The Telegraph, theprintspace, The FT, The Guardian, ITV, NHS, Tatler, Macallan, Adidas, Norwich City FC, England FC, Oracle, Ketel One, Rolex, Leica, The TrainLine, Channel 4, House & Garden and AirBnB to name a few. I have worked with a wide range of photographers on a number of different shoots, working in advertising, corporate, still life, editorial, commercial, architecture and lifestyle. I have gained a huge amount of knowledge and experience during my time assisting, and am incredibly confident working with an array of different camera and lighting systems, and I am able to apply the knowledge and the skills I have learnt to any shoot. I have extensive knowledge of file treatment, colour management and post production, and how to prepare files to a professional standard, whether that be for print or viewed digitally. I understand the importance of working quickly, professionally, and efficiently during a shoot, and work relentlessly to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible, and to anticipate and meet the photographer and clients needs. The majority of my commercial work has been shot with a Mamiya Leaf or Canon 5D mkiii, whilst my personal work takes a more traditional route, often shooting 120 on either a Hasselblad or Mamiya 645. I have extensive experience using Profoto, Elinchrom, Broncolor and Bowens lighting kits, and am able to supply technical help throughout the shoot to ensure that all equipment runs efficiently. I am a confident Digi-op and retoucher, have a clean UK driving license and am available to travel further afield from London if required. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile, and please check out my website to see a selection of my work. Feel free to contact me at any time. I look forward to working together in the future! I have been an assistant photographer for the last four years. I am a trust worthy person, who is always punctual, friendly and reliable. I am great at handling difficult situations, meeting tight deadlines and adapting to rising changes. I own a set of Bowens lights and my own studio kit so I have a strong understanding of how equipment works effectively. I am constantly studying and brushing up my skills so I am knowledgeable within different types of photography and retouching. I am confident with Adobe Photoshop CC, Capture One, Adobe Bridge and Lightroom. I am able to work with both PC and Macs and am confident with post production. I work with Canon, Nikon and Fuji cameras. My dream is to own my own magazine dedicated to fashion, art and science - think, New Scientist meets Vogue. I don’t feel that science and technology are often represented enough in a lot of women’s magazines and I would love to make it more inclusive, whilst still including fashion, art and literature pieces and photographs. Photographer and Retoucher LCF Pigeons & Peacocks magazine, NME magazine, Editorial QC magazine, Deliveroo, Irene Major Couture show (televised on Channel 5), Hardly Ever Worn It, Sam’s Fashion Shop, Light Photographic Journal, Mollie Cheek Glass Art, The Host Clothing Company, HJ magazine, Salon International, British Hairdressing Business Awards, DAMA Modelling agency, London Fashion Week (2015 - Glam Africa, Luke Rover & Alpha Industries shows). Assistant Work Jemima Marriott (SYN, Papercut and Institute magazine editorials), Martin Bisiker (UBS Financial conference), Tim Stubbings (Product advertising, University head shots, Marlowe Performance dress rehearsals, Videography for Whitefriars), Tom Lee Testimonies: "Josephine works with me in the role of Assistant Photographer. She's got a great attention for detail, is very organised and works quickly. Personable and highly recommended." - Martin Bisiker. "I have absolutely no doubt Jo will be an invaluable asset to any future role she undertakes. She is a driven individual who works hard to establish herself with the workplace and be as helpful as possible to ensure shoots run smoothly." - Zoe Higgins. "Josephine is a thoroughly professional individual with a impressive natural flair for visuals and photography. My experience working with Josephine was extremely pleasurable and I would recommend her for the future." - Victoria Troke

I’ve been working in the photographic industry since 2008. In that time I’ve held both freelance and full time positions as a photo assistant, digital operator, studio manager and production manager. I am a Phase One Certified Professional and equally experienced and capable with lighting and digital work. Before moving to London in 2015 I was based between South Africa and Germany. Over the years I have worked on projects across all genres from still life studio shoots to on location outdoor projects in difficult environments. I most enjoy advertising, portraiture, lifestyle, travel and documentary work. I’m happy to can provide a list of references on request. Here's a quick summary of the equipment I usually work with. You’re welcome to give me a call to discuss any of the details…. CAMERA: Phase One (Certified Professional). Hasselblad. Canon. Nikon. Sony. Mamiya. Pentax DIGITAL: Capture One (Certified Professional). Lightroom. Photoshop. Bridge. Mac OS. Wacom graphics tablet LIGHTING: Strobe lighting including Profoto. Broncolor. Briese. Elinchrom… Constant lighting including HMI. Tungsten. Kino flow. Dedo light… EQUIPMENT RENTAL: I can provide a digital capture location kit including: Macbook Pro Retina. Eizo Monitor. Workcase + Tripod. Hyperjuice Battery. Tether cables. Wacom graphics tablet. I believe that doing my job well allows a photographer to put more of their energy into making great pictures while knowing that the technical details and everything outside the viewfinder is taken care of - whether its lighting, digital workflow or logistics. My priority is making sure images are safe and up to standard but thats just where the job starts. I’ve hauled gear up snowy mountains in Switzerland, camping overnight to catch the sunrise. I’ve held back traffic in the hectic streets of Maputo and held onto photographers while they hang out of moving cars descending mountain passes on Mallorca. I’m happy making coffee for clients in studio or making sure everyones getting enough water when its 40C in the Namibian desert. I can handle a 12 x 12 scrim in Cape Town’s fierce south easterly wind or stay up through the night preparing images for a deadline…its all part of the job and with over 8 years in the business you can trust me to do it well.

Hi there. I am interested in studio and location work. I am very good at communicating with people having been a client myself as I used to work in PR. I have studied upto HNC level Photography and have made money doing events and family photography, as well as interiors. I have my own lights and flashes that I use on location. I am fully versed in Lightroom and Capture 1 and can do basic stuff in Photoshop. I'm quite fit so don't mind lifting things that aren't too heavy.
