Bruce Horak

Hello, my names Bruce. I’ve been assisting since 2008. In that time I’ve worked as both freelance and full time assistant and studio manager. Before moving to London in 2015 I was based in South Africa and Germany. I am a Phase One Certified Professional and happy working as either Digital Operator or Photographic Assistant. I have experience with and enjoy a range of photographic projects from precision still life work in studio to on location ski shoots. I can provide a digital location kit including a Macbook Pro Retina, Workcase + Tripod, Hyperjuice Battery, Tether cables and Wacom. Here's a quick summary of the equipment I usually work with... CAMERA: Phase One Certified Professional / Canon / Nikon / Sony / Hasselblad DIGITAL: Wacom graphics tablet / Capture One (Certified Professional) / Lightroom / Photoshop / Bridge / Mac OS LIGHTING: Strobe lighting including Profoto / Broncolor / Briese / Elinchrom / Constant lighting including HMI / Tungsten / Kino flow / Dedo light / I believe that doing my job well means a photographer can put all their energy into making great pictures knowing that the technical details and everything outside the viewfinder are taken care of - whether its lighting, digital workflow or logistics. My priority is making sure your images are safe and up to your standards of quality but thats just where the job starts. I’ve hauled gear up snowy mountains in Switzerland and camped overnight in sub zero temperatures to be ready for sunrise. I’ve held back traffic in the hectic streets of Maputo and held onto photographers while they hang out of moving cars descending mountain passes on Mallorca. I’m just as happy making coffee for your clients in studio or making sure you're getting enough water when its 40C in the Namibian desert. I can handle a 12 x 12 scrim in Cape Town’s fierce south easterly wind or stay up through the night preparing images for a deadline...its all part of the job and with over 8 years in the business you can trust me to do it well.
