Hi,
I'm a London based DigiTech and lighting tech with more than 12 years of experience working freelance in the photographic industry.
In my time as a photographic assistant, I have worked on shoots in just about every genre of photography imaginable, from portraiture, fashion and sport photography, all the way through to automotive, underwater and still life. I've even had the privilege of lighting the Queen for a royal portrait. Having such varied experiences in my career has put me in good stead to anticipate and find solutions to any problems that might come up on shoots.
Equipment wise, I'm happy using any brand of lighting, both flash and continuous. As a Digitech, I'm happy and well-versed in all the main camera systems, as well as Capture One, Phocus and Photoshop on both Mac and PC. I have even invented my own photographic equipment, including the Fotofortress Quick Release Tether Lock which is now available for sale in the UK, Europe, North America and Australia.
Other skills I have acquired over the years include professional rigging, from working as a scaffolder before starting my photography career. I'm also good with my hands and have the tools and the knowledge to build sets, coves and flats if needed. I have my BS7909 certificate in temporary power systems, an essential qualification if you want to work in lighting in the film and TV industry.
Finally, I also have a selection of DigiTech equipment available for hire, including a top spec Macbook Pro, a digi cart and 2 x 27 inch Eizo monitors which I'm happy to rent out for 20% less than the fees charged by the main rental houses.
Thanks so much and I look forward to working with you soon!

Hi, I’m Valerio. I have been working in the photography industry since 2015. Before moving on to assisting, I taught post-production at a photography school in London.
I began as a studio assistant and then I moved on to second/first assistant as well as Digi-Tech and retoucher. Originally from Italy, I’m now based in south London.
I have spent most of my assisting time on location, around Europe and the Middle East. This has given me a deep understanding on how to travel with photographic equipment and how to quickly tackle challenging weather conditions when the team needs to be most efficient. I have experience shooting in extreme cold / hot environments and also as a second shooter.
I’m highly proficient in post-production and colour management. I’m accustomed to working fast under tight deadlines and to delivering files for either digital or print use.
On top of capturing stills, I'm confident shooting video too.

- Camera systems: Canon, Sony, Nikon, Leica.
- Lighting: Aputure, Profoto, Elinchrom, Arri, Dedo.
- Software: Capture One, Lightroom, Photoshop, Camera RAW, Bridge, Da Vinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, VR and 360° stills.

Shiv Kanagaratnam
Hi there. I'm Shiv, a digital operator and lighting assistant based in London. I've been working within the photography industry since 2008 when I started out at Spring Studios.
Having worked as a digital operator for over 10 years I have extensive experience with Capture One, Phocus, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge. I frequently work with Hasselblad, Phase One, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm and Contax cameras.
I often supply and use my own MacBook Pros, Eizo screens, work stations and cabling on Advertising shoots to provide multiple viewing points to aid client comfort and feedback and allow other creatives to watch what's happening in real time. This can be wireless or wired and I can tailor the package to your budget and location.
Although I no longer actively retouch, I have in the past retouched campaigns for Ikea and Subway as well as portraits of celebrities and various fashion editorials. On-set comping and rough retouching to show clients quick mock-ups isn’t a problem.
I have experience in creating lighting plans from references with flash or continuous lighting using Profoto, Elinchrom, Briese, Broncolor, Strobe, Tungsten, HMI, Kinoflo and LED panels in the studio or on location using generators.

Tom Hanslien
Based in Woolwich, Greenwich, I am a professional photographer working closely with large and small businesses in London and further afield. I am here to help if you are planning a photo shoot – whether large or small - to promote your brand, service or product. It could be for the purpose of advertising, a catalogue or maybe for your company website.
I am always at hand dedicated to fulfil any brief you may have, whether it is lifestyle, advertising or corporate events photography.
Over the years I have developed a problem-solving approach, a very keen eye, and an excellent understanding of composition. This, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of post production, and the following process of design and artwork, ensures that I can exceed any expectations. I also always pride myself in delivering a finished product on schedule and on budget.
One of my big passions is my love of travel, and to share my experiences through my images. This does not only take me around the world – with many great new images as a result - but it is also a continuing source of inspiration which influences and feeds my enthusiasm for photography.
Post Production:
With many years experience of high-end retouching I am able to take control of the post production of my images if this is required. The advantage of this is that my style and quality control can be consistent throughout the whole process and I can deliver a truly finished product. Some examples of previous post production projects can be seen at my DigiSurgeon website.
