Assisted and digitally operated for five years, working around the world, on some great productions, with some cracking people. I've got access to a variety of equipment and know my role as a team member, to make your shoot go smoothly and to have your back.
I make no mistake in admitting that assisting is a stepping stone towards becoming a photographer. The photographers and directors that I work with appreciate the honesty, but more so the attitude, work ethic, and skill set that I bring to a shoot.
After graduating with a first in photography, I worked for a London photographic kit room. Here my knowledge of grip, cameras, lighting equipment and digital software exploded, giving me that grounding knowledge in both the industry and all its tools.
Drop me a line if you think we are a good match.

I've been working as a Lighting, camera and digital assistant for over 6 years and previous to that I worked in a rental department for 2 years.
I've worked with many agencies, photographers and production companies over the past 6 years on an array of shoots from ecom to advertising for a wide and diverse clientele.
I'm a calm and level headed person who works well under pressure. I'm able to communicate well and understand what my role is in assisting photographers to complete a successful shoot.
The skills I've acquired over the years have made me more than competent with lighting equipment and I'm able to understand a lighting brief and hire/use the right tools to achieve the desired look.
Likewise with a digital workflow, I can provide a full digital kit package and make sure that all files from camera to computer are organised, graded and outputted to the requirements of the client, ready for retouch.
Useful things I own include:
Full Clean Driving Licence
VW T6 LWB Van
Broncolor A4 Gratit with Ringflash and Pulso heads
Macbook Pros (Thundebolt 2 and 3) with all the bits!!
Monitor (Eizo and Dell)
Inovativ Pro Ultra Kit

Based in Woolwich, Greenwich, I am a professional photographer working closely with large and small businesses in London and further afield. I am here to help if you are planning a photo shoot – whether large or small - to promote your brand, service or product. It could be for the purpose of advertising, a catalogue or maybe for your company website.
I am always at hand dedicated to fulfil any brief you may have, whether it is lifestyle, advertising or corporate events photography.
Over the years I have developed a problem-solving approach, a very keen eye, and an excellent understanding of composition. This, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of post production, and the following process of design and artwork, ensures that I can exceed any expectations. I also always pride myself in delivering a finished product on schedule and on budget.
One of my big passions is my love of travel, and to share my experiences through my images. This does not only take me around the world – with many great new images as a result - but it is also a continuing source of inspiration which influences and feeds my enthusiasm for photography.
With many years experience of high-end retouching I am able to take control of the post production of my images if this is required. The advantage of this is that my style and quality control can be consistent throughout the whole process and I can deliver a truly finished product. Some examples of previous post production projects can be seen at my DigiSurgeon website.
Hi, I’m Valerio. I have been working in the photography industry since 2015. Before assisting, I was a retouching teacher at a photography school in London. Over the years I have worked with a number of photographers both in Italy and in the UK. I have spent most of my assisting time on location, around Europe and the Middle East. This has given me a deep understanding on how to travel with photographic equipment and how to quickly tackle challenging weather conditions when the team needs to be most efficient.
I have experience shooting in extreme cold / hot environments and also as a second shooter for events.
I’m highly proficient in post production and colour management. I’m accustomed to working fast under tight deadlines and to delivering files for either digital or print use.
Here’s an overview of my skills:
- Camera systems: Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Leica.
- Lighting: Profoto, Elinchrom, Arri, LED’s, Dedo.
- Software and post production: Capture One, Lightroom, Photoshop, Camera RAW, Bridge, Final Cut Pro, Wacom, VR and 360° stills.
- Languages: mother tongue Italian, fluent English, basic French
Equipment available to rent:
- 15-inch MacBook Pro (includes Capture One Pro, Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom)
- 27-inch Benq Monitor
- Datacolor Spyder 5 Pro
- Wacom Intuos Pro Small
- Nikon D800 + lenses
- Leica M240 + lenses
- Hand painted background
- Manfrotto 190 Tripod + 410 Micro-metric geared head
- F&V K4000 SE Daylight LED Panel
- 500W flashes with a wide range of light shapers
I hold an Italian passport, a clean EU driving license (soon to be switched to a UK one) and I have my own car and bicycle.
I’m happy to travel/drive anywhere if required.
I play guitar and I’m a very good cook!

I’ve been working in the photographic industry since 2008. In that time I’ve held both freelance and full time positions as a photo assistant, digital operator, studio manager and production manager. I am a Phase One Certified Professional and equally experienced and capable with lighting and digital work.
Before moving to London in 2015 I was based between South Africa and Germany.
Over the years I have worked on projects across all genres from still life studio shoots to on location outdoor projects in difficult environments. I most enjoy advertising, portraiture, lifestyle, travel and documentary work. I’m can provide a list of references on request.
This is summary of the equipment I have most experience with:
Phase One (Certified Professional). Hasselblad. Canon. Nikon. Sony. Mamiya. Pentax
Capture One (Certified Professional). Lightroom. Photoshop. Bridge. Mac OS. Wacom graphics tablet
Strobe lighting including Profoto. Broncolor. Briese. Elinchrom…
Constant lighting including HMI. Tungsten. Kino flow. LED’s. Dedo light…
I can provide a digital capture location kit including: Macbook Pro Retina. Eizo Monitor. Workcase + Tripod. Hyperjuice Battery. Tether cables. Wacom graphics tablet.
I also have Camera Kit (Nikon D850 + lenses) available.
I believe that doing my job well allows a photographer to put more of their energy into making great pictures while knowing that the technical details and everything outside the viewfinder is taken care of - whether its lighting, digital workflow or logistics. My priority is making sure images are safe and up to standard but thats just where the job starts. I’ve hauled gear up snowy mountains in Switzerland, camping overnight to catch the sunrise. I’ve held back traffic in the hectic streets of Maputo and held onto photographers while they hang out of moving cars descending mountain passes on Mallorca. I’m happy making coffee for clients in studio or making sure everyones getting enough water when its 40C in the Namibian desert. I can handle a 12 x 12 scrim in Cape Town’s fierce south easterly wind or stay up through the night preparing images for a deadline…its all part of the job and with 10 years in the business you can trust me to do it well.
Please feel free to give me call if you'd like to discuss any projects or have any questions. Thanks
