As part of our continued commitment to provide a service for the photographic community we are pleased to announce a series of inspirational, targeted talks covering the most serious aspects confronting the world of photography today.
AOP Board Member and photojournalist, Carol Allen-Storey will be in conversation with the most influential figures from the photographic community, such as Shoair Mavlian - Photoworks, Michael Benson - Photo London, Ben Burdett, Director - Atlas Gallery, Hannah Watson -Trolley Books, to name but a few. To be accompanied by world-renowned photographers such as the AOP President, Tim Flach, Alys Tomlinson, Jillian Edelstein, Simon Roberts, Adam Hinton and many more.
The talks will cover subjects from personal projects, publishing, festivals, agencies, online exhibitions, fine art to commissioning editors and the resulting effects of the pandemic.
All talks are free. Registration for each talk will open two weeks prior to the scheduled talk, AOP Members will receive priority booking for the first week, opening it up to the wider community to register in the second week. (You can currently join for free as an Access member until the end of June 2020)
Othello de'Souza Hartley is a visual artist, his practice encompasses photography,film, performance, drawing and painting. de'Souza Hartley work explores a range of issues from gender, masculinity, identity, politics, the body and emotions.

Karen McQuaid is Senior Curator at The Photographers' Gallery. She contributes texts to photography publications, institutions and artists books, and guest lectures across the UK.
Ben Burdett founded the Atlas Gallery in 1994. It is one of the foremost galleries worldwide dealing exclusively in photography in all forms, representing a diverse range of contemporary photographers. From classic vintage photography, photojournalism and fashion to experimental and art photography. The gallery hosts approximately six exhibitions a year and has a presence at international art fairs including Paris Photo, Photo London, Photo Shanghai, Art Miami and Art Basel Hong Kong. Ben set up Atlas after a successful career in fine art and antiquarian books, becoming one of the top experts in nineteenth century travel and exploration.
Brandei Estes is the Head of Photographs at Sotheby’s London, and spent over ten years working inphotography and contemporary art galleries in London and Paris before joining Sotheby’s in2013. Brandei is regularly a judge and nominator for numerous international photography awards including the Prix Pictet and the Deutsche Borse, and served for five years as the Chair for the advisory committee of The Photographers’ Gallery TPG Contemporaries. Brandei also lectures throughout the year on collecting photographs and the photography market for public and private institutions, museums, galleries and fairs in the UK and abroad.
Francesca is Director of Business Development at The Photographers' Gallery, the largest public institution in the UK exclusively focusing on photography. She is responsible for the Gallery’s Print Sales activities, Fundraising and Special Projects. She has been working in the photography world since 2011, after a successful career in finance with Morgan Stanley and Permira. She was previously General Manager for Christie's South Kensington, responsible for running one of the busiest auction rooms in the UK.
Pranvera Smith is one of the founders of the Frontline Club, a social enterprise created to champion independent journalism and provide a forum for discussion on foreign affairs, human rights, press freedoms, and equality.
Sophie Wright began her career in photography as a picture researcher at Penguin Books and then subsequently worked for small creative companies throughout her twenties, helping set up a photography agency, new gallery and deputy editing a photography magazine amongst other things, before joining Magnum in 2003 as Exhibitions Manager. Global Cultural Director at Magnum Photos for the past 5 years, she oversees programming and sales across cultural commissions, exhibitions and associated publications, print sales (from individual collectors to institutions) and talks programmes.

Stuart Smith is the director and cofounder of GOST Books, an independent visual arts and photography publisher founded in 2013. Designing since the late 80's, he established SMITH in 1994 and has become renowned for his specialization in typography and award-winning photo books.
Hannah Watson is Director of independent publisher Trolley Books and contemporary art gallery TJ Boulting.
Harriet Logan is a multi award winning photographer who spent the first half of her career working oninternational assignments in places such as Chechnya, Afghanistan, Kosovo and Somalia for a range of international newspapers and magazines.
Marc Hartog is the founder of 1854 Media, a multi-award-winning digital media organisation with a global community including millions of photographers, arts lovers and international brands. After a management buyout of the British Journal of Photography in 2013, the group led the transformation of BJP from a weekly specialist photography magazine, focusing on cameras and hardware as much as images, into a monthly object of beauty with photography and photographers right at its heart.
Tristan Lund is curator of The Incite Project, a UK based collection of photojournalism, documentary photography and photographic art. He is also an independent art advisor and co-curator of the 2020 edition of Approche art fair, Paris.
