We’ve opened the doors on our 2015 Student Awards!

This year the we’ve partnered with innovative London prolab and art printer, theprintspace who will be hosting the Awards ceremony and exhibition this summer.

Our friends from Holborn Studios will provide a day’s free studio hire including a professional lighting set-up for the overall winner. Further prizes will be announced shortly.

The Awards carry four briefs, each set by a leading professional photographer, they are:

Social media: Animal conservation, set by Tim Flach

Create a cover photograph/background image for the social media platform of an organisation involved in animal conservation or rescue.

Product shots: Sense, set by Richard Maxted

Photograph props (clothes, shoes, books, records, etc.) from a Sense charity store. The aim is to surprise the viewer when they learn that the props came from a charity shop.

Brand Image: Charity, set by George Logan

Create a single image to highlight and promote a cause or charity that is important to the photographer. The image should be suitable for a marketing campaign.

Sunday supplement cover, set by Wendy Carrig

Shoot an eye-catching portrait suitable for the cover of a Sunday newspaper supplement.

Many photographers put their current success down to winning an AOP Award, both in terms of publicity and recognition amongst their peers. The Student Awards offers an excellent springboard for an aspiring photographer.

The Awards are open to all students who are studying a course that includes photography as a part (this may not necessarily be a full-time photography course). All images are submitted via the AOP’s website - www.the-aop.org - the Awards close on April 30 2015.

There is an entry fee of £5.00 per image for AOP Student Members, whilst non-members pay £7.50 for each image submitted. Membership is free for those at AOP Affiliated Colleges or £25 for those who are not. For further information on becoming an AOP Student Member please go to http://www.the-aop.org/join-us/student
