We’re excited to be launching a new category of membership, ‘AOP Open Membership’.

Open membership is aimed at people who earn at least some of their income from photography. This includes designers, retouchers, lecturers, tutors, agents, or people who are photographers of a professional standard but who do not necessarily practice on a full-time basis.

Chair of the AOP, Steve Knight, explained the move: “The AOP board felt it was time to recognise that professional photography is changing, it’s morphing into a craft embracing more than just conventionally accepted image-making. One of The Association's long-term objectives is to widen its membership in order to more effectively represent the views of those in developing visual communication roles - to become an association for photography.”
