The BA (Hons) Photography degree course at Solent University, Southampton, are proud to show a selection of work from some of our graduating third year students. The images are a small insight into the projects on which they have been working this year; they all originate with a passion and concern felt by student towards a topic. They range from the ruins of British coastal defences – calling to presence national history, identity and power as well as divisive issues around Brexit and Britain’s geopolitical position – to portraits dealing with mental health and a perceived sense of abandonment and alienation in regard to a decline in support. They include projects dealing with our profound entanglements with the environment, to images of figures and objects through methods of portraiture, to considering photographic ethics and positionality in the representation the ‘heterotopias’ of concentration camps.
