Our approach to photography at Derby is shamelessly critical and expansive, requiring students to explore the outer limits of photography; to challenge conceptions and conventions of the image; to use and misuse photographic media; and to support their work with extensive research and philosophical exploration. The work exhibited here is a selection of work from graduating students for 2021. It includes a broad range of themes, from the impact of COVID; gender identity; the family; memory; the impact of humans on the environment, tackled with imagination, delivered with determination, in what has been very trying circumstances.
