Who would have thought that 2020 would be even more memorable than any of us could have imagined. It has been a year of many ups and downs, challenges and opportunities as well as sadness and joy.

The fact that you have helped us and our creative community has shown how powerful we can be when we work together.

Portfolio reviews, pop up showcases, breakfast clubs, lockdowns, speed dating, Covid 19 Guidelines, group discussions and more, it is your support and input that has enabled the AOP to fashion a new (ab)normal though all the hullabaloo.

If you are not a member of the AOP you will have missed all the support and sharing of knowledge that has taken place across our general, f22 (women photographers of the AOP) and AOP for All (creatives of colour) forums.

As an industry we have banded together to address Covid-19 and the challenges of safe productions with the Advertising Producers Association (APA) and producers and agent friends.

Along with major agencies and bodies like the APA, IPA, ISBA we are a founding member of AdGreen. Its aim is to unite the advertising industry to eliminate the negative environmental impacts of production, with one of its targets being to enable the sector to reduce emissions from production to net zero by 2030. Watch out for their new programme of training and the development of a carbon calculator for the production industry.

As you get ready to take some time off (if you can), I hope you will relax and remind yourselves of the amazing success you have achieved in getting through this last year in whatever way you have, and look forward to a new year and all the possibilities it can offer.

And remember, whatever is around the corner, we are here to help make sense of it and to provide information, support and inspiration.

Enjoy and celebrate in your own unique way.

Now where is that Christmas double gin?.....
