We are delighted to share the good news that Seamus McGibbon is to remain at the helm of the good ship, 'AOP', for the foreseeable future. Prior to the pandemic, there were plans for change afoot, as you may have been aware, but the current crisis has changed all that and now, more than any other time in the AOP's history, we need stability and a steady hand to chart a clear course over the short- and mid-term.

We are in good health as an organisation, and you are part of the reason we are, so we thank you for your continuing support and pledge our continuing support to you in return.

"What a momentous, life-changing four months we have just had. The world, our industry and our families have all been hugely impacted by one tiny microscopic thing - who knew that something so small, would cause such profound changes to every element of our society and our day-to-day lives, both now and for the foreseeable future.

That change has been as unique as those it's affected. What's been so heartening is how we've all come together as the AOP to help our colleagues and friends through all this.

There are more challenges ahead and I could not bear to see anyone else steer the Association through the next stage. That's why, after much discussion with the AOP Board, it has been decided that I stay on as CEO.

I love working at the AOP - ours is a unique industry with many challenges ahead as we embrace the new abnormal. I am very pleased to be staying on and hope we all far exceed our hopes for the future.

I also want to thank the AOP team; Yaa, Rachel, Kevin, Sam and Nick for stepping up to the challenges with so much positive energy, the Board for their support and all our members for being simply amazing throughout this difficult time."

"The Board and I are delighted that Seamus has agreed to stay on to guide the AOP through these turbulent times. He rose magnificently to the challenges facing our Members over the past few months and to reflect the added responsibilities this has brought, the Board and I have chosen to promote Seamus with the new title of Chief Executive Officer.

Without our Members there would be no AOP. Seamus, along with the excellent team he has put in place, understands the problems, strengths and values of our Members. The Board is confident that he is the best possible person to ensure that the AOP will be looking to opportunities arising out of the current situation rather than only dealing with the difficulties. The Board and I very much look forward to working with Seamus over the next few months to ensure that our Members and the AOP continue to flourish for many years to come."
