Member description

I am a lens based story teller, who also has a twenty+ year career in Documentary film as an aerial cinematographer, stills photographer and sound recordist. My work has taken me to every ocean and to both 80° South and North, and around the world, but I feel most at one in the hills and mountains, wild islands and cold climes.

Through photography, I set out to communicate the world around us, in an artful, informative, and honest way. As a documentary photographer, I aim to frame the multifaceted layers I see in the tightest way. I am always seeking something that is touching, that telling glance, the slightly different, and overlooked.

For my editorial practice I photograph expeditions, situational landscape, wildscapes, and portraits. I’ve been widely published in magazine, books, and the global news media. This work is often created alongside my documentary film practice; where I cover science, natural history and exploration films. I love collaborating with people to make their portraits, and love to find understated and overlooked people to photograph.

In my fine art practice, I’m a represented by Moorwood Art in Somerset. I currently have a collection of photographic lightboxes ‘The Endurance Collection’ from work produced in Antarctica. I am also in the process of creating a landscape/ wildlife/ wildscape book and print collection.

2017 Exhibition: ‘Extraordinary, Ordinary, People’ work created from my images, text, and found objects, celebrating the Liberian and Sierra Leonian front-line workers / healthcare workers during the West African Ebola crisis.
