Unseen World: group exhibition

Copyright Hub pilot launched

The Copyright Hub launched a consultation pilot in July 2013. You can find it and follow progress at copyrighthub.co.uk

The launch of the Copyright Hub is one of the outcomes of the Hargreaves Review on intellctual property and growth, alongside various other recommendations concerning changes to copyright law. Professor Hargreaves recommended the creation of a digital copyright exchange (DCE). Richard Hooper carried out a feasibility study of the digital copyright exchange which in his final report Copyright Works dated July 2012 looked at a wide range of ways of making copyright licensing more fit for purpose for the digital age.

Member? Why not rent a desk at the AOP?

The AOP has a number of desks at the AOP offices that are available for rent and would like to offer members first refusal. So, if you are thinking of renting desk space in London please email ella@aophoto.co.uk for further information. Desk space will available from 1 August. The office at 21 Downham Road, N1 5AA, has great links to the City and the rest of London. Liverpool Street, Kings Cross, Euston and St Pancras International mainline stations are all within 20 minutes away. Haggerston station is the nearest overground station with easy links to the Underground.

Photographer Elisabeth Blanchet has spent over 11 years building an archive of post-war prefabricated homes and communities in the UK. Prefabs – Palaces for the people is a multimedia exhibition that includes photographs, interviews, short films, stories, an ipad interactive platform and prefab memorabilia.

Update on AOP copyright activity

Copyright Licensing Steering Group meetings are ongoing with a July deadline for presentation to Government. Gwen Thomas represents photography on this group, AOP President Simon Leach and photographer member Paul Ellis are on two of the work streams which report back to it, with a remit to ensure there are practical solutions to minimise the problems expected with new legislation such as Orphan Works.

Save the date for our next Career Talk

Board member Michael Harvey gave the AOP's career talk on 29 May, the first since the AOP has been in its new home in Downham Road. The talk was a great success with positive feedback from all those who attended. The next talk is on Wednesday 26 June with a break in July/August and then the last Wednesday of the month for October and November.
