Lee Miller - online picture library launch

The Lee Miller Archives have announced that 24 April 2013 will see the long-awaited trade launch of the new online picture library containing around 3000 images from the extensive archive of Lee Miller’s extraordinary catalogue of work. Painstakingly converted into digital format from original prints and negatives, the new online library brings many never seen before images to immediate access for researchers, academics, arts collectors and the public alike.

For Gypsy Kings, the AOP's current online exhibition, Terri Potoczna advertised for Roma volunteers to choose a person from a selection of famous paintings whose appearance they would like to "try on". She travelled throughout Hungary to meet them and recorded the discussion about their choices as well as their comments about Roma identity.

Frames film debuts at Dublin Film Festival

In The Deep Shade, a feature-length film about Irish band The Frames, premiered last night, 17 February, at The Dublin International Film Festival.

AOP member Conor Masterson shot the film working closely with the band over 18-months, beginning in 2010 on their 20th anniversary tour.

Revamped Awards for 30th anniversary

This year is a very special one for the Association of Photographers (AOP) Awards — it’s 30 years since the main Photographers Awards was launched and the Association has recognised the landmark date by transforming its whole Awards programme.

The Photographers Awards were created in 1983 to encourage creative exploration and to give members a way to exhibit their skills to commissioners and others in the industry.
