AOP STUDENT AWARDS 2020: Winners Announced

Originating in 1981 the Association of Photographers (AOP) Student Awards celebrates the very best of emerging talent from students of photography.
Today the AOP celebrated this enormous talent among students at a virtual presentation of the 2020 AOP Student Awards. The online exhibition at aopawards.com comprises all 60 finalist still and moving image entries from the three categories of; People, Places and Things judged by leading industry professionals Julia Fullerton-Batten, Laura Noble & Lee Smith.

The 2020 Award winners were revealed in front of a virtual audience of finalists, press, agents, commissioners and members. World renowned photographer and AOP President, Tim Flach introduced the Awards commenting,
“These Awards were founded nearly 40 years ago and the AOP remains committed to developing emerging talent as they represent the future of our industry. It’s more important now, than ever, to give the next generation of photographers the exposure and support that they will need to progress.”
The presentation was hosted by Geraint Cunnick, Course leader, Digital Photography, Ravensbourne College and member of the AOP’s Education Working Group who announced the winners of: the AOP Course of the Year and AOP Lecturer of the Year along with the overall Best in Show. Each of the Gold and Silver winners were announced by the curators of each category.
Many congratulations to the winners:
People Category: Gold went to Jayne Jackson, Silver went to Natalia Krezel.
Places Category: Gold went to Elizabeth Woodger, Silver went to Jade Ward.
Things Category: Gold went to Nancy Mead, Silver went to Ruby Burgess.
The overall Best in Show was awarded to Elliot Caunce whose work is the competition’s first overall winner for a work of moving image.
Congratulations also to Paul Wenham-Clarke, MA Commercial Photography, Arts University Bournemouth for winning Lecturer of the Year, and University of Gloucestershire: BA (Hons) Editorial and Advertising Photography for winning Course of the year.
