How can the AOP help you even more during this crisis?

Seamus McGibbon - Executive Director - AOP

The last few weeks have without doubt been one of the most difficult times for all of us. Our health has been challenged by an unquantifiable threat. Our businesses and the ways we work are being jeopardised. Some have lost work altogether, some have seen work near disappear; some have even seen work increase. As with the virus, none of us are sure how this outbreak will affect us.

But there is hope. Over the last few weeks’ we have proven that there are many positive ways the AOP can provide support and a solid grounding during such turmoil.

We have campaigned tirelessly on your behalf to government about the impact this is having on you and our industry. Supported our members by giving a 3 month subscription fee holiday. Made it possible for EVERYONE (that includes you), to access our resources and forum by making our Access membership free during the months of April, May and June (simple use the code COMMUNITY when you sign up here). Launched a special wellbeing area of our website, with loads of great cultural things to do to keep you occupied, and resurrected our online gallery so we are now able to host exhibitions that might otherwise not take place.

Now we want to listen to you as much as we want you to listen to us. So what can we do using the resources we have to help you and our industry?

Whatever happens we will continue to provide support were we can, give clear and digestible information on both the outbreak and how it will impact on you, your practice, businesses and wellbeing. We will continue to lobby and campaign for you and ensure that your concerns are heard by those that matter. We will always make sure that those who feel that they don’t matter, are heard as loudly as possible.

More importantly we will find new and better ways to do what we have always done, celebrate the image and support you. Promote the importance of images and our sector, protect you from those who may take advantage and inform you on development and opportunities that are available to enable you to flourish and succeed as a photographer and image maker.

Stay in touch, community is everything.
