Jocelyn Horsfall wins the Portfolio Award at International Garden Photographer of the Year
12 February 2019
Jocelyn Horsfall has won 1st Place in the Portfolios category of the prestigious International Garden Photographer of the Year competition. Her series of 6 images entitled “Tropical Wonderland” were taken at the Palmhouse in Kew Gardens using an infra red camera, which has an almost magical effect on the appearance of the plants and foliage. The result is an ethereal, dreamlike wonderland, with a variety of textures and forms that demonstrate the lushness, tranquility and ‘otherworldliness’ of this tropical paradise.
The images are on display with the other award winners in an exhibition at the Nash Conservatory, Kew Gardens, open to the public from 9th February for a month before moving on to other locations in the UK and abroad.
The competition, now in its 13th year, is recognised as the most prestigious global competition for garden and plant photography, and attracts over 19,000 entrants from around the world.
