AOP member Ian Potter of Miss Jones Agency will discuss the realities of working in today’s photographic industry. He will look at the current commissioning landscape and the role of a photographers’ agent.

Ian started his career as a photographic printer before assisting in London. After 7 years as a photographer working primarily in fashion, he went into art direction and commissioning photography at TCL (now Getty) and the BBC. In 2008 he bought The Miss Jones Agency, a photographic representation company which at the time was based in Edinburgh, which he has been running ever since, now based in central London, and working with a selection of the best photographic talent in the UK.

Ian’s experience as a photographer and commissioner has stood him in good stead for his current position as an agent. His talk will centre around the demands of high-end commercial photography at a national and international advertising level, outlining the importance of presentation and commitment, as well as giving a perspective on how commissioners are now working and what they expect to see.

This event is free to lecturers and staff on AOP Accredited Courses.
