Agents and Photographers: how it really works:
The importance of a good photographer agent relationships and how to successfully work together.
Photographer director David Ryle is a mid-career photographer/director who shoots across the editorial, contract publishing, advertising market, as well as developing his personal practice. His work has a beautiful sensibility, a gentle use of light, colour and atmosphere which resonates with a contemporary audience. Commissions include HSBC, Skoda, Liz Earle Skincare, Kopparbergs, Visit Wales, EmiratesAirline, Avaunt Magazine, Volvo, Chevrolet, McLaren, Audi & Acura among others:
Agent Tom Wade has recently joined Peter Bailey, Tom will discuss his role as agent and how he works with photographers like David. Tom trained as a photographer and began his career in cost control working directly with brands – his understanding of the market/brands is key to his role as agent.
Peter Bailey agency was established in 1982 Peter Bailey has represented many leading photographers over the years – during which time the industry has evolved enormously.

Assistant and digi operator Conrad Onhuki will discuss how assisting is an important next step in your photographic career, one that can be very hard to get established. Conrad has been an assistant and digital operator for 4 years and can share some tips on how to get your foot in the door and make it as a freelancer.

Pricing your work and valuing yourself, undertanding how to set a rate as a starting point.
16.00: Emma Taylor, Kim Pappas - Process, Charlie Clift – photographer
The Importance of a Portfolio
This informative panel discussion will look at: presentation do's and don'ts; at what stage in your career are you expected to have one?; digital versus print portfolios.
