Photographer Overview
Russell is a Photographer and Artist who studied Photography and Illustration at Central Saint Martins school of Art and in Switzerland. Since leaving art school he has continued to work in both disciplines.
His artwork has won numerous awards amongst others 5 best of British Gold awards, D&AD’s and Creative Reviews Best in Book. His painting and drawing expertise feeds into his photography giving his work a unique feel and look. Influenced by films and cinematography he’s also a natural story teller, where his work natural sits between Art and Commercial.
Coming from an events background Russell is primarily a portrait and people photographer mostly shooting on location. He’s enjoyed photographing actors and re-enactors for over 13 years where central themes of transformation, escapism and obsession underpin his work. As with actors he documents people from all walks of life who time travel and immerse themselves into alternative personas.
His various long term projects underpin his work. In 2017 I was commissioned by the Duke of Richmond to photograph Goodwood Revival the worlds largest vintage motoring event. A perfect hunting ground, his work has been subsequently commissioned by various brands, including fashion, automative and drinks that feed these historic vintage worlds.
