Photographer Overview

I’m an award-winning photographer with over 10 years’ professional experience.

After studying at Norwich School of Art and Design, I did a stint as a cruise ship photographer sailing Alaska’s Inside Passage. It was both gruelling and fun, and I eventually got used to sleeping below the waterline. Through assisting I met my future picture editor and boss at ITV, where I was staff photographer for two and a half years. This opened the door to freelancing in the film and TV industry, where I’ve built long-lasting relationships and worked regularly with the major terrestrial TV channels, as well as independent production companies and the national press.

In this demanding environment I’ve learned to think on my feet and adapt quickly. I like working with people, and while I’m comfortable working with celebrities I also enjoy photographing everyday characters.

Working on film sets has had a strong influence on my work and fuelled my love of storytelling, something I bring to my own photography. I strive to create images that are visually powerful but also suggest intrigue. I want to capture people’s imaginations and inspire their curiosity.

My latest personal project, Dancing on Ice Netherworld, goes behind the scenes of one of ITV’s biggest and glitziest entertainment shows to look at some of the unseen off-screen roles that make it a reality. I wanted to share a glimpse of the not-so-glamorous, sometimes surreal backstage world, and introduce the people who spend their working life among its intricate web of cables, gaffer tape and high-tech equipment.
