Photographer Overview

Andrea Jones is regarded as one of the world’s foremost photographers of landscape architecture and garden design. She has enjoyed over 25 years photographing in the specialist field of plants, flowers and trees. She was a finalist in the AOP Awards 'Spaces' category in 2023 and has won a multitude of Awards within in her niche genre including the prized UK Garden Media Guild’s ‘Gordon Rae Photographer of the Year’ Award in both 2008 and 2018. Between times she was honoured to be Book Photographer of the Year 2014 and shortlisted for her books and features on several occasions.

Her many varied assignments have taken her around the globe, working for private commissions, garden designers and landscape architects, on book projects, magazines and newspaper assignments.

Andrea studied Art formally at Bournemouth in the South of England then Photography at Salisbury before entering the commercial world.

Starting off with studio work for advertising commissions and assisting a leading interiors photographer before working with Dr Jane Goodall on wildlife assignments in Africa and then full circle to commencing her garden portfolio in the 90s. All experiences contributed to enjoying a diverse range of photographic skills she could not have predicted. A spell with fine art photographer Bruce Rae in London revived her love of the darkroom and sharpened her attention to the subtleties of light.

Andrea now enjoys life in a remote area of SW Scotland, appreciating the ever changing weather and landscape. She travels widely for her projects, most recently to the Amazon Rainforest (August 23).
